Irritable Bowel Syndrome

Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) is a long-term (‘chronic’), relapsing, and often life-long disorder.

People with IBS can experience bloating, cramping, pain and discomfort. They may need to visit the toilet urgently and frequently. The cause of IBS is not known, but what is known is that almost all IBS sufferers experience Anxiety.

When we are stressed or anxious the body is in “fight/flight/fear” mode and survival becomes priority, blood is diverted to the vital organs, heart, lungs and brain, the stress hormones released in preparation to fight for our lives remain in our body unused. The reduction in bowel blood flow may cause constipation or diarrhoea, in order to recommence the digestive process, we need to relax, so that bowel blood flow is restored.

During the state of hypnosis your body and mind is relaxed, therefore you restore the blood flow and improve your symptoms.
